GCCL – Newsletter to Clubs – July 2017

This newsletter records the key points from the County League Committee meeting on August 21.

Good luck to all the League’s teams for the final two matches of this remarkable season weather-wise that has seen a number of teams able to complete all 16 of their fixtures to date...and the forecast for this coming Saturday is very good!

Promotion and Relegation

The situation in both WEPL and the District Leagues has moved around a lot in recent weeks but, following the fixtures on August 19, the situation is that, if things stay as they are in WEPL, it will be 2 up and 3 down.  (NB In 2016, it was 3 up and 2 down).

This means that, again if things stay as they are in WEPL and the District Leagues, there will be will one more team relegated than indicated by the red shading in the league tables on play-cricket. I.e. 2 up/3 down from GCCL Divisions 1 and 2, 2 up/4 down from Divisions 3 - 6 and 2 up/5 down from Division 7.

However, there are matches in both WEPL and the Cotswolds League that could radically change the situation and reduce the number of relegations.

Your Committee will endeavour to provide a definitive picture as soon as possible after the final round of matches on September 2.  However, please note that there are matches in the Cotswold League on September 9 that could impact on Division 7.

Proposed rule changes for 2018

A reminder that your Committee has developed a list of Proposed Rule Changes for 2018 so that they can be discussed within clubs during the playing season.

The proposals are at  Please get back to your Divisional Representative if you have any comments or additions.  All feedback will be discussed at the League Committee's September meeting where the final list to be voted on at the AGM will be drawn up.
