GCCL – Newsletter to Clubs – November 2016

This newsletter records the key points from the County League Committee meeting on November 21.

Thank you very much to everyone who attended the dinner on Friday evening.  The feedback has been extremely positive but, if anyone has any feedback, please do not hesitate to contact Eddie Baker and Brian Hudson.  The photographs have been posted at  High resolution versions are available if required.  Uncollected trophies are available from Brian Hudson.

League Committee

The position has greatly improved.  Keith Fuller, who many will know as a GACUS umpire, has volunteered to take on the role of League Secretary.  A huge “Thank you” to Keith.

The position with Division 2 and 3 representatives has been resolved:

  • Division 2 – Andy Williams
  • Division 3 – Chris Young

Your committee also welcomes Samuel Huntley from the University of Gloucestershire who has very kindly volunteered to take on the role of the League Webmaster.

Batting Bonus Points

At the AGM, there was a desire to support an increase in the number of batting bonus points but the appropriate format could not be resolved on the night.  The committee was asked to revisit and bring forward an alternative proposal to be voted on by email.

After long and detailed debate, the Committee decided to defer any further action on Batting Bonus Points until the 2017 AGM for two reasons:

  • The difficulty of coming up with a proposal that did not have any downsides
  • There is the possibility, or even likelihood, of an initiative for standardisation across all tiers in the pyramid
